Over 50 episodes of the KBS historical drama series "Jumong" have been translated and dubbed into Tagalog and made available to watch on YouTube. All just in time for Filipino fans to catch up before the drama's finale! The Jumong story is about a Goguryeo nobleman who led his people in founding what would become one of Korea’s most powerful kingdoms. The show seems to have resonated with Filipinos who might have felt similarly betrayed by their governments in recent years. The show has received over 100,000 views since November 2016, when it was uploaded on YouTube by two young Filipino women. The show was a hit in the Philippines, its 54-episode original run being one of the highest-rated Korean dramas on Philippine television at the time. It was also a big hit in Japan, where it aired on Fuji TV from July to September 2015. In both countries, English subtitles were added to the official YouTube versions, making them even more accessible to non-Korean speakers or those who have difficulty reading Korean. The Philippine version of "Jumong" features Filipino actors and actresses speaking Tagalog. The settings are also adjusted to the Philippines, with Pampanga, for instance, standing in for Goguryeo. The Philippine setting is seen in the opening scene of episode 1, where King Geum Wa (Anslem Ruiz) and his wife Yang-no (Sherlyn Reyes) marvel at the country's many islands. The cast is rounded out by actors who speak fluent Tagalog, delivering the Tagalog-dubbed dialogue with confidence. The main roles are played by Solenn Heussaff as Ja-hye, the princess of Buyeo whose marriage to Jumong will unite two kingdoms, and Christian Bables as Jumong, the man who will rule over one of them. Other Philippine "Jumong" characters include Gregorio Pagtalunan Jr. as the late King Geum Wa’s brother, who is jealous of his brother’s success and determined to dethrone him. Ana Abad Santos plays the role of Ja-hye's handmaiden Shiwoo, whose passion for Jumong leaves her torn between loyalty to her princess and love for a fugitive. Eddie Garcia plays a Buyeo lord who acts as a father figure to Jumong after his own father is murdered by Dongmyeong. cfa1e77820
